Indeed, this year the Gouffre de Proumeyssac has decided to reveal all its secrets (or almost) to you in a pre-show called: the Mysteries of Proumeyssac.
We will immerse you in the heart of historical anecdotes, legends and superstitions of the Gouffre de Proumeyssac. It must be said that before its exploration on March 10, 1907 by Gabriel Galou, “the Cro de Proumeissat, nicknamed “devil’s hole” aroused a lot of intrigue among the locals. The smoke coming from the chimney greatly worried the people of the region who had decided that Proumeyssac was a cursed place. For them, it was sure, the Devil or a dragon lived there. And so, for fear of mysterious disappearances around and superstitions that surrounded the place, no one dared to approach the Chasm for many centuries.
